Don’t be afraid to fail, Be afraid not to try

It says, ‘sometimes not taking a risk is taking a risk’. Many ideas, businesses, and careers does not end in filing bankruptcy, but end because ‘it’s not been tried at all’. The fear of failing get us immobilize, resist us in moving forward and doing nothing. But unless we overcome this fear and allow ourselves to step forward in our life, we would likely to miss some great openings along the way.

But I genuinely believe that this fear occurs when we inappropriately defined failure itself. We decide to see failure as “the end of the world,” or from somewhere we cannot go beyond. We set ourselves such a goal that we at times think would be impossible, and let this fear stop us doing the things that can move us forward to achieve our goals.

But what if, we can look at failure as the incredible learning experience, a small step towards our goal — a little closer to the success. Or start by setting few of these small goals — the goals that are slightly, but not overwhelmingly, challenging. The goals that are designed to help boost our confidence, faith, and belief.

Once, my student told me that she wants to do hundred percent — and anywhere between it would be a failure. So, my advice was to make her goals in tiny steps on the route to much bigger goals. Just focus on the next step: improvement, innovation. Taking tiny step forward will help build your confidence and prevent you from getting overwhelmed with visions of your final goal.
